Ever bought the perfect sofa only for delivery day to come and it doesn’t fit through the front door? Or how about that plan to finish the basement and not a single chair will fit through the corner entrance to the basement? So annoying! It happens to the best of us, even me! But this time I avoided the measuring woes!

We recently updated my son’s room to fit his new mature, high school style. I was determined not to make any measuring mistakes, so I used this great online floor plan site. All I had to do was input the room’s dimensions, including the dimensions of the entranceways. Instantly, it brought up an overhead view of his bedroom.

That’s when the fun really began! When I found pieces of furniture I liked online, I could put their dimensions into the site and see if and where they would fit in the room. The program even let me change the colors, so I could incorporate the color palette, too.

I could have kept playing, but my son insisted we finally get some furniture and finish the room. I printed out my finalized floor plan and brought it with me to the store. We were able to tell the salesperson the exact specifications of the furniture. So much easier than measuring everything in the store and hoping the pieces will fit through the door. When delivery day rolled around, I had the biggest smile on my face as everything – from the king sized mattress to the desk to the book cases – fit perfectly!
